Tissot Seastar Vintage Tissot is one of the great historic names in Swiss watchmaking. The company was founded in 1853 in Le Locle—at the same time as several of the region’s best-known manufactures. For decades, the Seastar line was the backbone of Tissot’s range: a solid and reliable everyday watch with a touch of Swiss understatement. It was produced in countless variations during the 1950s and 1960s. This version from the 1960s presents the classic Seastar in its purest form: understated, elegant, and embodying the typical standards Tissot held itself to at the time, even in the mid-range price segments. The round stainless steel case, measuring approximately 32 mm in diameter, features the restrained, clean lines of a classic mid-century dress watch. The silver-plated dial provides a warm, creamy-shimmering background for the applied gold baton indexes and slender gold Dauphine hands with black inner filling. Tissot used this classic detail during this era to improve legibility. The subtle printed “Seastar” signature beneath the distinctive Tissot logo in italic lettering, together with the fine railway-track minute track around the edge, completes the calm, harmonious layout. The watch is powered by the solid Swiss manual-winding caliber 27B-21, which Tissot used for its entry-level models in the 1960s and which is still valued for its robustness and ease of maintenance. The watch is presented in honest vintage condition. The dial displays a light, even patina of age, the kind only time can create. The case shows age-appropriate signs of wear and polishing, clearly visible and lending the watch character. The crown was presumably replaced at some point over the years. It is currently fitted with a new, high-quality brown leather strap with contrasting stitching—a well-matched setup for an understatedly beautiful Swiss vintage watch that serves as an entry point into the world of collecting.
