James Tyler Studio Elite HD - USA 2023

Few modern guitars have developed quite the reputation of a James Tyler Studio Elite HD. Built around the needs of serious working players, the Studio Elite has long been associated with the LA session world, combining exceptional playability with an enormously versatile electronics package and Tyler’s unmistakable aesthetic. This 2023 example, serial #23498, is a particularly striking build finished in Black Shmear with a semi gloss finish, complemented by a black headstock and silver Explogo. Underneath is a lightweight alder body paired with a quartersawn maple neck and a beautifully dark Macassar ebony fingerboard. It was specified from the factory with Tyler’s Thin neck profile, wide/tall frets and white mother of pearl inlays. The pickup configuration is classic Tyler HSS, with a pair of JTS5500 single coils in the neck and middle positions and a California Special humbucker at the bridge. Tyler’s onboard Midboost preamp with bypass greatly expands what is already an extremely versatile guitar, allowing everything from open, articulate single coil sounds through to considerably thicker and more powerful lead tones without losing the fundamental character of the instrument. Hardware includes Tyler’s G2TS tremolo, Hipshot locking tuners, chrome hardware and black dome knobs. At just 7 lbs 8 oz (approximately 3.40 kg), it is also remarkably comfortable for a guitar with this much versatility on tap. Completed on October 13, 2023, this Studio Elite HD comes with its original G&G hard shell case, factory paperwork and documentation, including the original James Tyler instrument order sheet confirming the specification of the guitar.
