The Women of Whale Rock: A Fantasy Life Story

Strange things happen in Whale Rock. Lately, swarming gulls appear on the beach, too many of them, followed by a dead body pecked beyond recognition. Sheriff Dan Retsler knows the county coroner’s report—death by drowning—hides something. But what? Surely, not the magic the locals at the False Colors claim. Retsler doesn’t believe in magic…not yet, anyway. Like early Ray Bradbury, Rusch has the ability to switch on a universal dark. —The Times (London)
