Petatillo Tlaquepaque Wall Charger c.1930s M2040
Large hand-painted charger from Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, circa 1930s, in the classic petatillo style. The center scene shows tall cactus, an agave, and two figures in sombreros resting among rounded hills, with a little adobe house tucked in at the right. Concentric bands of blue, green, orange, and pink circle the well, and a lively border of leaves and rainbow-like scrolls finishes the rim. Colors are rich and the lustrous glaze still catches the light nicely. A hairline crack is the only flaw; otherwise the piece is in excellent condition. Pierced for hanging. Measures 16.5" x 16.5"
