Octomore 17.3 60.9% 70cl A fascinating single malt Scotch, crafted at Bruichladdich distillery. But it’s a bottling that goes into far greater detail than that. Made from spirit from a single vintage and grain grown in a single location (Irene’s Field on Islay’s Octomore Farm, just two miles away from the distillery if you’re curious), it’s been aged for five years in a combination of casks. As well as first-fill ex-bourbon, the recipe also features casks that previously held Ribera Del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswine and Syrah wines. It’s been peated to a whopping 132.1ppm too, which informs the expressive profile of earthy smoke, herbs, boiled sweets and salted caramel.
