The harness design also works for hiking, but for ordinary walking or a dog that walks on a loose leash, you should generally choose a regular Y-shaped harness that is better suited for that purpose instead of a pulling harness. However, the Pro model focuses particularly on its lightweight construction, precise fit, and CleanSeam™ technology. Freemotion Harness 5.0 has thicker padding, while the Pro model has thinner, lighter padding. In sizes 5–7, the Pro also has smaller S-shaped neck openings designed to fit narrow-necked, athletic dogs better. How to adjust a pulling harness correctly The proper fit of a pulling harness is especially important. The harness should fit snugly around the neck without slipping onto the shoulders, but it must not restrict breathing or cause chafing. The side straps are used to adjust the depth of the harness's chest section, and even when pulling, the lower part of the harness should stay correctly positioned over the rib cage. The side straps should therefore run along the sides over the rib cage, not behind the last rib. The dog should stand in a natural position when adjusting the fit.
