Men's grey jeans, salt and pepper These men's grey jeans start from a raw selvedge denim, woven on a shuttle loom, then washed with pumice stone to soften its hand and give it a granite look. It is called salt and pepper: an anthracite grey with shades sometimes warm, sometimes cool depending on the angle of the light. It is the easiest version of our 3320 cut to match, going as well with the work wardrobe as with a sober one. The pumice wash then removes part of that surface dye and reveals the white weft thread in places: it is that mix that gives the grey. The denim weighs 14 oz, 100% cotton, woven in Okayama in a 3×1 twill, with a clean selvedge visible on the outer seam. Comfortable straight away Unlike a raw jean, these don't need weeks to break in: the hand is already softened by the wash, and they are comfortable from the first day. The salt and pepper still evolves with you. At the friction zones, the contrasts sharpen and the weft threads gradually stand out. A construction made to last Chain-stitch seams on an off-the-arm Union Special, cold-forged copper rivets stamped Champ de Manœuvres, front pockets in a 1940s-inspired herringbone. The crotch is reinforced, the back pocket bottoms are lined, the fly is edged with a bias binding and the waistband chain-stitched. Everything is sewn in 100% cotton thread, so the jeans stay repairable. They are then made in Portugal. Cut and sizing The 3320 cut is high in the rise, straight in the leg, easy without being loose: take your usual size. Inseam of 80 cm (31.5 in) on all sizes, from 28 to 38; in size 32, 43 cm half waist and 34 cm thigh. The denim is unsanforised: allow 1 to 1.5 cm of shrinkage at the first wash. How to wear men's grey jeans With a white oxford shirt and a jacket for town. With a lambswool sweater or a work jacket at the weekend. The 3320 cut also comes in blue, black and rinsed ecru. Care Wash them as little as possible and air them between wears. If needed: 30 °C (86 °F) inside out, short cycle, mild detergent with no bleaching agent, separately the first few times, because the indigo still bleeds. Air dry in the shade, never in a tumble dryer.
