Costa Rica - San Lorenzo
Five minutes from central San Marcos — home to Coope Tarrazú’s main wet and dry mills — lies the small community of San Lorenzo. The town consists of little more than a main street, school, church and a football pitch … before quickly giving way to a network of coffee farms stretching up the southern hillsides and sitting at the heart of the Tarrazú region. Our selection is from a group of farmers known locally as the San Lorenzo Growers. This year we have picked their naturally processed coffee; harvested when the cherries reach a deep, uniform red the batch was then delivered by these farmers direct to San Marcos where the co-op’s main receiving centre is located. Coope Tarrazu are a well established co-operative, founded in the 1960’s. As our long-term partners in Costa Rica we have visited and bought coffee from them for several years and are proud to support their environmental and community work in this beautiful country.
