Antique Cluster Flower Earrings, ca 1800
The cluster is Georgian craftsmanship at its finest. Take smaller white paste stones, none impressive alone, and arrange them into a radiating composition, and suddenly they create the visual impact of a single large stone. Additionally, the crimped silver collet settings are a hallmark of the Georgian period. White paste, inspired by diamonds, glittered slightly differently. The stones were hand-cut with high crowns and small tables to catch flickering candlelight. The inverted flower design is so charming and really stands out on the ear. These earrings are a great example of Georgian craftsmanship, ingenuity, and design. England, ca 1800
