Masterclass Mycelium product development for professionals November 21, 2026

Full day masterclass at SPORE.NL in Almere, The Netherlands This hands-on masterclass will be given by Peter Oei (author of Mushroom Cultivation IV) and Arthur Marti Leão, production manager at SPORE.nl on November 21, 2026 from 10.00 – 18.00. Maximally 10 participants to allow personal feedback to each participant. Location: the new SPORE.nl facilities in Almere, 25 minutes east of Amsterdam: Linnaeusweg 7, 1331 AA, Almere The following aspects will be covered: Production process overview - Filling Incubation Popping Drying (Coating) Product development - Design moulds Mould materials - Market appreciation Minimal viable product Practical workshop: the group will produce a hybrid mycelium product, combining wood, textile and mycelium composite, which will result in a hacked biobased IKEA chair. (original idea: Studio Cartier). Certification aspects: depending on the specific application, certification may be needed in order to get the product on the market. Case studies serve to give detailed insights: much can be learned from the developments processes of the following projects: - Mycel: phone booth with 120 cm high 3D printed moulds Dutch Pavilion at Dubai World Expo with acoustic panels by Mogu Modular wall system with wooden boxes as molds (assignment to Studio Cartier) Surfboard (KOZ) development challenges: water proofing, weight FC-i: large scale production experiences for insulation material Mycelium wool panels by Gabriela Farias The course fee includes: Manual on mycelium product development, food & drinks during the masterclass (including mushroom lunch), pick up & drop off at train station Almere Buiten if required, guided tour of facilities in Almere, materials used during the masterclass, 1 bag of 8 liter substrate
