Characteristics: Delicate aromas of blackberries, liquorice, graphite and cedarwood. Classically structured mouthfeel with a supple texture, complex layers and a focused linearity on the finish. Lively and complex and long aftertaste. Grapes sourced from Stellenbosch, blend of 41% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot and 1% Malbec. Matured on 225 liter French oak for 18 months (47% new). Ageing potential of at least 10 years from vintage! Food pairing: Enjoy with baked or grilled red meat or ground game, with spicy sauces. About the winery: Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons is a joint venture between the Rupert family of South Africa and Baron Benjamin de Rothschild of Château Clarcke from France. The common base is the historic estate Fredericksburg, situated between Franschhoek and Paarl. Talented young winemakers Kayla Oertle-Morse and André Roux are the constant link between vineyard and wine cellar, strain after modern fruit and a classic texture.
