Buyer Protection Reform Implementation by Building and Plumbing Commission

The Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) marks a major step forward in strengthening Victoria’s building regulation system. From 1 July 2026, the BPC will also begin exercising a series of new powers and functions designed to deliver stronger protections for homeowners and encouraging industry practitioners to get it right the first time. Together, these reforms strengthen the regulator’s ability to protect consumers, reduce costly and stressful disputes, and lift standards across the building and plumbing industries.
