Overview The Formetco Safety Pole is the ultimate billboard safety pole solution for structures less than 15′ above the ground — situations where a full climbing fall-protection setup may not fit the job, but workers still need a reliable, engineered tie-off point while posting or working a bulletin or poster panel. Wide Opening for Bulletins and Posters A wide opening on the pole works on both bulletins and posters, letting crews use the same piece of equipment across different structure types rather than needing separate gear for each. That versatility means a single Safety Pole can travel with a crew servicing a route of mixed structures instead of requiring a separate tool per structure type. Length Options The Safety Pole is available in 10′ and 14′ lengths, the perfect size for handling and storage — short enough to maneuver and stow in a service vehicle, but long enough to reach the tie-off points the job requires. Three Tie-Off Points Three stainless steel tie-off points give crews flexibility in how and where they connect, for maximum flexibility depending on a worker’s position on the structure. Stainless steel hardware at each tie-off point is built to hold up to repeated outdoor use without the corrosion concerns that plain steel connection points would raise over time. The pole keeps workers tied off above the chest for maximum safety, and removes the need to tie off to the posting ladder, freeing the ladder up for its intended purpose and giving workers an independent anchor point. Non-Conductive Composite Construction The pole is constructed of non-conductive high strength composite materials. Non-conductive construction matters directly for billboard crews, who regularly work near power lines and electrical service to the sign — a composite pole removes the conductive path that a metal pole would introduce in that environment, while the high-strength composite still delivers the load-bearing performance the pole is rated for. Tested and Certified The Safety Pole is tested to 5000 lbs and has passed a Certified Engineer Approved Drop Test, giving crews documented assurance the pole has been evaluated for the forces it’s designed to withstand. That combination of a rated load test and an engineer-approved drop test is the kind of documentation a safety manager or inspector will want on file for equipment used as a tie-off point.
