This month’s Emo Embroidery project honors the iconic song “Wake Me Up When September Ends” from Green Day. The song is a heart-wrenching tribute written by Billie Joe about the death of his father when he was only 10 years old. As the story goes, when his father passed early in the month of September, the young boy ran to his room after the funeral and told his mom to “wake me up when September ends.” It is a deeply relatable feeling for anyone experiencing the deepest kinds of grief. And when you scream it out in a room full of people, it can be incredibly cathartic. That is the beautiful magic of how music can help us feel less alone. Come join fellow deep souls to embroider a custom design inspired by the song, which features a moody window scene with the lyrics. Please note that workshops are intended for participants ages 14 and up, with instruction, pacing, and materials geared toward teens and adults rather than young children.
