Her crown rises to a gem-set point, flanked by green frond-like flourishes on either side, with a scalloped gold halo framing her face from behind. Her upper hands don't hold what you'd expect from a distance — look closer and one cradles a small bird, the other a small rectangular tablet of scripture, rather than the usual raised mala. The veena itself rests down rather than held aloft mid-performance: its scrolled, violin-style neck curves upward while the gourd body settles against the lotus beside her, as if she's paused between songs rather than caught mid-note. At her feet, a swan leans in close, nuzzled right against her raised foot on a soft-pink lotus edged entirely in gold.
