Bvlgari Tronchetto Pave Diamond Hoop Earrings 18K Yellow Gold — Vintage

Bvlgari's Tronchetto, from the years when the house built jewelry like architecture. Half-hoop huggies in 18K yellow gold, thick in section, domed and split into three facets so the hoop reads as a segmented tube — that's the "tronchetto," Italian for a small log. The center segment is a hexagonal panel of pave diamonds — round brilliant diamonds, approximately 2.00 carats total — bead-set edge to edge, with the gold between them worked down until it barely shows. The panel sits in a raised frame with beveled shoulders, angled front to back, so the diamonds face slightly forward on the ear instead of straight out. The two plain end segments are polished mirror-bright and taper into the hoop. Substantial pieces. The gold is solid, not hollow, and the backs are Bvlgari's post-and-omega clip: a post through the lobe, then a hinged clip that snaps down behind it.
