Frodo Baggins was a Hobbit of The Shire who inherited The One Ring from Bilbo and was chosen in Rivendell to carry it toward Mordor. With Sam at his side, he endured the long road through Moria, Lothlórien, Emyn Muil, Ithilien, and Shelob’s lair before reaching Mount Doom. Though the Ring finally overcame him at the end, Frodo’s mercy toward Gollum helped bring about its destruction, and after the war he sailed west to seek healing from the wounds he had suffered.
