A beautifully proportioned antique Victorian drop-front secretary desk in warm golden oak, with a deeply carved scrolling acanthus leaf cartouche on the fall front, a scalloped and carved gallery rail along the top, and a lower display shelf on slender legs that gives the whole piece a light, almost delicate stance. The fall front opens to reveal a painted interior with multiple letter compartments and cubbies — organized, considered, and very much intact. A piece that works beautifully in a bedroom, a living room, or a study — closed it is a handsome cabinet, open it becomes a proper writing desk with real character.
