Vicke Lindstrand Vase

Hand blown Glass Vase by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta, Sweden This striking mid-century vase has a tall, slender form featuring a rich emerald-green core surrounded by deep blue threads, all encased in clear crystal. The intricate threading creates a delicate lattice effect, giving the glass remarkable depth and movement as the vase is viewed from different angles. Lindstrand (1904 - 1983) was an adventurous and highly experimental designer whose work often challenged the conventions of Swedish mid-century glass. His willingness to explore unconventional techniques, materials and forms sometimes placed him outside the prevailing design establishment. Today, this experimental approach is central to the appeal of his work, with colour, pattern, transparency and form coming together to create highly individual pieces. Engraved on the underside of this vase is ‘Kosta (maker) LH (Lindstrand + hand-formed) 1590 (model/year)’ The overall impression of this piece is excellent. It is in very good vintage condition, with no cracks, repairs or discolouration. There is some minor visible wear to the upper section and base of the vase, consistent with its age; please refer to the close-up photographs for further detail.
