Semi-polished labradorite

The Inuit believed that labradorite was pieces of the aurora borealis frozen in ice. Caused by micro-inclusions and internal lamellae that reflect light, these reflections are so unique that they have their own name: labradorescence. Labradorite belongs to the feldspar family, a group of minerals that notably crystallize from lava. This large block of labradorite displays vibrant blue, orange, and green reflections that change with the light and the observer's point of view. This piece stands out for the intensity of its reflections, visible from many angles.
