Founded in Montelupo Fiorentino, Italy, Bitossi became a leading force in postwar Italian ceramics under artistic director Aldo Londi, who led the company from 1946 through the 1970s. During the 1960s, Londi developed mustard glazed ceramics with hand painted linear motifs, combining traditional Tuscan ceramic techniques with modern Italian design. This 1960s Bitossi vase features a mustard glaze with hand painted black floral detailing and features exceptionally well preserved glaze and surface finish.
