Swiss German "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" Carved Bread Board, Lauterbrunnen, c1880

Available is an unusual Swiss-German fruitwood breadboard with excellent carvings. The words "Unser täglich Brot gib uns heute" translate to "Give us this day our daily bread", a quote from the Bible. On the bottom is the word "Lauterbrunnen", a village in the Jungrau region of Switzerland, where many carved wood items such as these bread boards were produced. Estimated age c1880. Sourced in England. Beautiful condition, with very small superficial split near the "L" at the bottom.
