The key factors that determine how many seasons you get out of the fabric are: UV exposure: Fabric left uncovered and exposed to direct sun degrades faster. When covered with mulch, gravel, or soil (at least 3 inches of cover), the material is shielded from UV radiation and can remain functional for many years. Protected installations from commercial-grade fabric are rated to last a decade or more. Some growers report reusing the same roll for 8 or more years. Handling during removal: Lifting the fabric carefully, shaking off debris, and avoiding sharp tools during removal will preserve the weave and prevent tears. Storage: After removal, rinse the fabric to remove soil and organic matter, allow it to dry fully, then roll it tightly and store it in a dry, shaded location until the next season.
