Outskirts of Flower City No. 7
This is one of our collaborative paintings worked on with kids that attend our workshops, school trips and birthday parties. This painting is called “Outskirts of Flower City No. 7”. We have created a few paintings called “Flower City” where we ask children to help us introduce elements to the paintings that “have the essence of a flower”. Frank instructs the children to ‘not paint a building, per se, but rather to paint a building that feels like a flower’. The paintings develop over the course of months, and some even years. As this painting was progressing - it seemed to have the feel of the outskirts of a Flower City - and in discussing this with a number of children, the collective consensus was to include the word “Outskirts” in the name. Every painting created here at Little Pulp is a true collaborative process where 100s if not 1000s of kids work on the paintings and Frank develops a continual dialog with any/all children that attend our session and work on the paintings with him. This painting developed over the course of about 8 months. It is a diptych (two canvases, each 16" x 20" sitting side by side). Painting Size: 32" x 20" Tempera, Acrylic and House Paints on Canvas.
