Sourced in Provence, France, this early 19th century French Empire buffet is crafted from solid walnut and retains its original grey marble top with natural white veining. The façade is framed by turned column supports mounted with gilt bronze capitals and bases, flanking two large paneled cabinet doors with original escutcheons and later keys. The walnut displays a rich honey-toned patina with beautiful figuring throughout, including striking bookmatched grain across the central stile and door panels. Classical Empire proportions, block-form feet, and restrained architectural detailing give the piece a strong and elegant presence. The interior opens to spacious shelved storage with two upper drawers added at a later date.
