BENIN BOYS T-SHIRT — IVORY

The Benin Boys T-Shirt is a study in memory, heritage, and contemporary craft. Originally released during our Stitched In Time presentation, the design draws inspiration from archival photographs of Edo dancers from the early 1900s. Their ceremonial dress, symbolism, and visual rhythm informed both the artwork on the back and the custom jacquard pocket on the front, creating a dialogue between past and present. Cut from heavyweight 100% combed cotton, the silhouette is intentionally relaxed with a boxy, slightly cropped shape that sits away from the body. A wide ribbed neckline adds structure, while the custom jacquard chest pocket is finished with Washington Roberts embroidery as a subtle signature. The back artwork features an archival image of Edo dancers that served as the foundation for the pocket motif, connecting the garment to the cultural references that inspired its creation. Designed to be worn across seasons and generations, the Benin Boys T-Shirt reflects our ongoing exploration of African heritage through a contemporary lens.
