JW74: Large Pūriri moth
Inspired by a traditional of silk moth keeping by the women in her mother's family, Jenny Wilson has created these smaller representations of New Zealand native moths. Using a striped "agate" clay, lace doilies to create texture and translucent wash of glaze for colour. The finishing touch is two delicate feather antenna, resulting in a moth that looks like it just landed there, seconds ago. Ceramic, feather Approx 150mm wide x 95mm high These moths have a small hole in the back, and are designed to hang on the wall from a small nail, or can sit flat atop a table.
