Trails Magazine
We're proud to collaborate and host our friends at Trails Magazine! We adore their thoughtful articles and inspiring photos. Check back soon for more issues! Issue 12—our second annual Photography Issue—is a tribute to the visual medium, the beauty of the outdoors, and the photographers who go out of their way to document it for us. Like last year, this unique edition still has all the things you love about Trails: great adventure stories, trail maps, backpacking recipes, skills, and gear. But it's far more visual than our typical issues. We worked with some of the most talented photographers and storytellers in the outdoor space to curate a jaw-droppingly gorgeous magazine with stories from across the continent and world. As always, it's printed on hefty 80-pound paper with fewer ads than any other magazine. Trails Magazine's 13th Issue explores endurance in various forms. The cover, shot by Jake Marty in the Utah canyonlands, sets the scene for many of this issues stories, including our second annual Editors' List: our context-specific take on the best gear for shoulder season adventures in canyon country. On top of that, this issues features an examination of the plethora of new long trails tied together with road walking and overlapping more established routes, and asks what's the point of them? Another feature follows Roland Banas on the first summer crossing of Death Valley. There's a profile of Eric Gilbertson, the peak bagger with a penchant for surveying the peaks he climbs. Plus the work of the North Cascade Glacier Climate Project, the story of Betty MacKaye, and all the recipes, trip reports, maps, and more than you expect from Trails Magazine.
