Why Kiwi homeowners choose the TotalFlo jet series Suitable for suction lift and flooded suction — works with tanks above or below pump level 304 stainless steel wet end casing — corrosion resistant Loss of prime protection built in Tested to AS/NZS 4020 for use in contact with drinking water Compact footprint — easy to install where space is limited 1.8m power lead with standard 3-pin plug included 2-year replacement guarantee against manufacturing defect How it works The TF40J-18 and TF50J-18 use a single-stage centrifugal pump with jet assist and an integrated pressure controller. The jet mechanism allows the pump to draw water from a source below the pump body — useful for low-set tanks or suction lift installations. The built-in controller maintains pressure and shuts the pump down if it loses prime. Suitable for: pressure boosting from water tanks, garden and irrigation supply, household water supply for small homes. The TF50J-18 has a larger 600W motor and delivers up to 50 lpm versus 40 lpm for the TF40J-18. If you're supplying a small home with multiple outlets or a larger garden system, the TF50J-18 gives more headroom. For single-outlet or light garden use, the TF40J-18 is sufficient. Can it draw water from a tank below the pump? Yes — both models support suction lift applications. A good quality foot valve on the suction line is recommended to maintain prime. What does "loss of prime protection" mean? If the pump runs dry — for example if the tank empties — the controller shuts it down to prevent damage. This is important for unattended operation on tank water supplies. What is the 2-year replacement guarantee? If the pump fails due to a manufacturing defect within 2 years, it is replaced. There are no serviceable spare parts and no infield repair service for this product. What does AS/NZS 4020 compliance mean? It means the pump has been tested in compliance with the standard for products used in contact with safe drinking water — covering materials and their effect on water quality. Is the water temperature limit important? Yes — the maximum water temperature is 35°C. This pump is not suitable for warm or hot water supply. It's designed for cold water pressure boosting only. Do I need a plumber to install it? For permanent household installations, a licensed plumber is recommended. For garden or irrigation use, installation is straightforward. Get in touch if you're unsure. Can I pair it with a water filter? Yes. A filter upstream protects the pump from sediment and extends its service life. Get in touch for filter recommendations suited to your water source.
