Giles Deacon for The Fife Arms Munro Victoria Cape
For his exclusive ‘Munro Capsule’ collection for The Fife Arms, launched to mark the occasion of the inaugural Festival of Fashion, Giles Deacon has taken the bespoke house tweed and tartan designed by Scottish textile artist Araminta Campbell and created pieces that combine the romance of the Highlands with some high-fashion flair. The inspiration for the Munro Victoria Cape came from the American socialite and Vogue editor Frances Farquharson who lived in nearby Braemar Castle and introduced Elsa Schiaparelli to the delights of tartan. The result is a dramatic draped cape cut on the bias that channels the inimitable spirit of Farquharson – to be worn over breeks out stalking on the hillsides or over a gown for cocktails at the Castle. It is a look that embodies the history and atmosphere of the Fife Arms, giving a nod to the demure Victoriana that is in keeping with the hotel’s aesthetic and combines it with some wild Scottish spirit.
