Shigaraki Tsubo
Large tsubo from Shigaraki used for pickling vegetables. Large Shigaraki vessels were typically of high iron content clay resulting in a pleasing red/brown color and with high silica content. They were often fired for weeks at a time resulting in wood ash deposits. c. Late 18th century (Edo period), Japan 23" height x 19" diameter
