Corten Steel Weathering Process RB73 outdoor fireplaces are available either pre-rusted or supplied in their natural unfinished steel state. Delivered Un-Rusted If supplied in unfinished steel, the weathering process will occur naturally once exposed to the elements. Typically, the protective rust-coloured patina develops over approximately 3 to 4 months. During the first season or two, we recommend placing the fireplace on a removable or protected surface, as some natural residue or runoff may stain surrounding flooring during the weathering process. Delivered Pre-Rusted Pre-rusted models have already undergone the weathering process during manufacturing, creating the established Corten finish before delivery. As with all Corten steel products, we still recommend placing the unit on a removable or protected surface during the initial period of use to prevent any natural residue transferring onto surrounding surfaces.
