The Allison 1000 automatic transmission relies on precise hydraulic control through electronically actuated solenoids, clutch-control circuits, and a high-capacity valve body to manage torque output from the Duramax diesel engine. Over time, clutch material, wear debris, and fine particulate contamination remain suspended in the transmission fluid, where they can interfere with hydraulic control accuracy, contribute to harsh or delayed shifts, and accelerate internal component wear. The Insane Diesel Allison 5/6-Speed Bypass Transmission Fluid Filter Kit is engineered specifically for 2001–2019 Chevrolet and GMC HD trucks equipped with the Allison 1000 transmission. It provides continuous fine-particle filtration beyond what the factory system is designed to capture, helping reduce contamination load and support long-term transmission reliability in towing, high-load, and elevated-temperature operating conditions. Transmissions that use a single combined fill/level port are not compatible with this return method and require an aftermarket transmission pan with a dedicated return port. If your transmission includes two separate service ports as described above, filtered fluid may be returned through the factory fill port without upgrading to an aftermarket pan. In this case, please contact us with the fill plug fitting size so we can supply the correct return fitting.
