Spring 2026 Simao White

Yunnan classic big leaf varietal, Bai Mu Dan style processing High altitude garden located in Ning'er county, North of Pu'er City Lively white with oolong undertones, light and refreshing This tea feels very playful on the tongue, its low oxidation level makes allowance for plenty of tingling and minty vibes. It is a special kind of white, a hybrid between Yunnan and Fujian style. The tea was laid indoors with a half-open ceiling, which means as the sun rotates during the day, the leaves are exposed to direct sunlight only half the time, a clever way to achieve a half sun-dried/half-shade dried tea. According to our friend Yu Jian Hui, who sourced this tea, it is the classic "old varietal", which means seed-propagated Assamica. Yet, the tea feels more lively and dynamic than most white teas we've tried. The aroma is especially enticing and I would totally believe this could come from a clonal cultivar. Nice to see again what a good processing technique can do to our good old Yunnan Assamica.
