Primula florindae | giant cowslip
Giant cowslip (Primula florindae) is a reliable bog plant from the Sikkimensis primrose group. This long-lived perennial can be found growing in and along streamsides in its native Tibet. In the garden, it is happiest on lime-y, consistently moist, wet, or boggy soil in part shade. Soil should never be allowed to dry out. The beautiful yellow flowers are fragrant and last for many weeks in summer. Robust foliage clumps successfully smother weeds. This is a truly wonderful plant if you can offer it enough moisture. Zone: 3 to 8 Family: Primulaceae Type: Herbaceous perennial Height: 36 to 48 in. Spread: 12 to 24 in. Exposure: part sun to full shade Conditions: moist, fertile, cool Bloom Time: June to August Native Range: Tibet
