Blondie is a beautiful chestnut Molly Mule whose estimated birth year is 2011. We do not have a lot of information about her history and background other than that she reportedly had been abandoned at a boarding facility by her former owner in Missouri. The authorities became involved. The owners of the boarding facility contacted Gentle Giants, and Blondie was shipped to their rescue in Maryland. We contacted Gentle Giants because we were looking for a pair of rescued Mules as companions for two extremely aged and bonded former Amish Work Mules in their thirties who had each been with us for more than 25 years. Another Mule named Michael arrived here at the same time as Blondie and they became inseparable. Blondie is the first Mule to come here who had not been used for work. We believe she was probably bred as a ‘Riding’ or ‘Saddle Mule,’ who are generally more streamlined and athletic looking than Amish Work Mules, Pack Mules, Logging Mules, and others used to perform heavy tasks. Blondie arrived at the sanctuary on July 22, 2026. As we do not have an exact date of birth for her, we will celebrate her birthday every year on that day. Blondie is proudly sponsored by supporters from Canandaigua, New York and Ghent, New York. More Sponsors Welcome! Photo credit: Dana Goedewaagen
