This vessel is based on a Shino tea bowl from the Azuchi–Momoyama period. It was fired in a wood-fired kiln in Oishida, Yamagata. The ash from the firing changed the original white colour of Shino ware. Its main features are the iron-painted decoration and the soft grey tones that flow across the whole piece.
