Produced by the band themselves, the album introduced guitarist Neal Schon -- then just fifteen years old -- alongside the core line-up of Carlos Santana, Gregg Rolie, Michael Shrieve, David Brown, Michael Carabello and Jose "Chepito" Areas. Coke Escovedo also joined on percussion, adding further rhythmic depth to the band's signature blend of Latin rock, blues and psychedelia. The album opens with the percussion-driven instrumental Batuka and features the hit single Everybody's Everything, which reached the top twelve on the Billboard Hot 100. No One To Depend On became another charting single, while Toussaint L'Overture -- named after the Haitian revolutionary -- stretches across nearly six minutes of extended jamming. The closing Para Los Rumberos is a tribute to Tito Puente. This Music On Vinyl reissue is pressed on 180 gram black vinyl with a gatefold sleeve.
