MAKING BOOKS SCHOOL: Boxes, Slipcases & Portfolios, 22–26 March 2027
Come join us at the London Centre for Book Arts for Making Books School: Boxes, Slipcases & Portfolios, the newest addition to our series of popular week-long workshops. In this week-long programme taught by experts, participants will be guided through the next steps of bookbinding, with a focus on box-making structures and techniques, and learn how to create four different box structures. Recommended for those who have some bookbinding experience. Participants will meet for five consecutive days at the LCBA studio, and will learn how to use specialist tools and equipment, and create by hand the following: Slipcase with Ribbon (for a book of your choice) Single Tray Box with Hand-hole and Magnetic Closure Match Box Style Box Shoe Box Style Lidded Box with Compartments The workshops will be taught by experienced LCBA instructors Pauline Leclercq, co-owner of Wyvern Bindery, and Simon Goode, founder and co-director of LCBA. All tools and materials are provided. Upon completion, participants will be qualified to become members and access the unique facilities at LCBA to work independently on their own projects.
