AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands. Amsterdam's iconic city plan is dramatic in this black and white drawing. The map-drawing centers on Amsterdam-Centrum and includes the Eastern Docklands and Vondelbuurt. The map area extends south toward Beatrixpark and north to the Hiet Li. The URBAN BURDEN Collection, is a Contemplation of the layers upon layers of a city block: soil, rock, garbage, treasures, plate tectonics, wind, water, glacial scrapes, urban design, acts of violence, acts of redemption, delight, kindness. Each block is a site of burden, accumulation of the millenia of natural forces and habitation. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original is signed & dated by me, on lower front corners.
