At its heart is a dual Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC architecture, capable of excellent dynamic range and exceptionally low distortion. TANCHJIM pairs this with its own PureBridge USB digital interface, developed to manage USB communication, audio streams and clock domains before the signal reaches the DAC stage. With both 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced outputs, up to 235mW @ 32Ω output power and support for headphones from approximately 8–300Ω, the SPACE II is equally at home driving sensitive high-performance IEMs or a wide range of full-size headphones. Dual CS43131 DAC Architecture The SPACE II uses two Cirrus Logic CS43131 DAC chips, providing the foundation for its balanced architecture and excellent measured performance. The CS43131 has become highly regarded in portable audio for its combination of low distortion, excellent dynamic range and low power consumption, allowing sophisticated DAC designs to achieve very high performance without requiring a large chassis or internal battery. In the SPACE II, TANCHJIM's dual-DAC implementation achieves a dynamic range of up to 132.2dB, THD+N as low as 0.000156% and SINAD of up to 116dB. TANCHJIM PureBridge USB Interface One of the most interesting upgrades in the SPACE II is TANCHJIM's proprietary PureBridge USB interface. Rather than treating the USB input simply as a connection between the source and DAC, the PureBridge interface handles USB data reception, UAC protocols, audio streams and clock domains before passing the digital audio signal to the dual CS43131 conversion stage. The aim is a more stable and carefully controlled digital signal path, helping the SPACE II extract excellent performance whether connected to a smartphone, tablet or computer. 4.4mm Balanced & 3.5mm Single-Ended Outputs The SPACE II provides both of the most important headphone connections used in modern portable audio. The 3.5mm single-ended output provides up to 2Vrms and broad compatibility with conventional IEMs and headphones. The 4.4mm balanced output increases available output to as much as 4Vrms, providing additional headroom for more demanding headphones and balanced IEM cables. Maximum output power reaches approximately 235mW into 32Ω, giving this tiny DAC considerably more capability than a conventional phone or laptop headphone output.
