That is the whole idea. The problem this solves. Rotary cutting is slow in a way that is hard to see until you time it. You line the ruler up, cut, lift, shift, line up again, and somewhere in there the fabric creeps and the tenth strip is not the width of the first. Slotted rulers take the lifting out. The grooves hold the blade, so you cut several strips in one pass and each one lands where it should. Why these three belong together.
