Looking for something different to do these school holidays? Over two afternoons on the first weekend of the school holidays, you'll build your very own sumo robot from individual components, learn how everything works, get hands-on with soldering and electronics, then put your creation to the ultimate test in a Sumo Robot Competition! ⚡🔧 This isn't just about assembling a kit. We'll teach you the skills and knowledge behind what you're building so you actually understand how your robot works. 🔧 DAY 1 — BUILD & LEARN We start with the basics before getting hands-on: 🎓 "What Are These 'Components' You Speak Of?" Learn about the different electronic components inside your robot, what they do and how they work together. 🔥 Learn to Solder Get hands-on and learn one of the most useful skills in electronics, robotics and drones. Then it's time to build! ⚙️ Solder your motors 🔌 Wire your sumo robot together 🛠️ Assemble the robot 🧪 Test, troubleshoot and make sure everything works By the end of Day 1, you'll have transformed a collection of parts into a working sumo robot! ⚔️ DAY 2 — PREPARE FOR BATTLE! Before we enter the arena, we'll cover some important skills and knowledge: 🔋 LiPo Battery Basics — Learn how to read and understand LiPo battery specifications at a glance and how to use them safely. 🦺 Safety — Understand the precautions you need to take when working with electronics, batteries and robots. 🏆 Competition 101 — Learn what to expect when entering a robotics competition and how events are run. Then… IT'S ROBOT FIGHTING TIME! 🤖💥🤖 Everyone starts out competing in Battle Royals with different objectives and challenges before we move into elimination rounds.
