Sample Itinerary DAY 1: Lahad Datu / Tabin Wildlife Reserve / Lipad Mud Volcano Arrive at Lahad Datu Airport and transfer to Tabin Wildlife Reserve – 44km and 1 hour, 15 minutes away. Check-in to your timber lodge at Tabin Wildlife Resort, featuring a private balcony, ceiling fan, and heated showers. Set along Lipad River, this wildlife resort offers opportunities to observe diverse wildlife – birds, insects, and small mammals – and learn about the medicinal herbs of the jungle. In the afternoon, take a 20-minute trek to the Lipad Mud Volcano – a mineral salt lick – to observe the wide range of wildlife that the mud volcano attracts, evident by the various animal footprints left behind. Right by the mud volcano is an observation tower offering panoramic views of the surrounding rainforest. Day 2: Lipad Waterfall / Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak Begin your second day with an early morning bird walk to observe Tabin’s diverse avian species – more than 300 in total! After breakfast, take a guided trek through the rainforest to reach the stunning Lipad Waterfall, where you can swim and unwind in the serene environment. Upon return, indulge in a Tabin Rainforest Foot Soak, using a blend of natural herbs to rejuvenate your feet after the day’s adventures. Day 3: Tabin Rock Pool / Semporna After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time by the nearby rock pool, where macaques and other small mammals are occasionally spotted. Check out of Tabin Wildlife Resort and transfer to Semporna – a 185km drive that should take approximately 3.5 hours. Overnight stay at a Semporna hotel in preparation of the next day’s exciting adventures. Day 4: Semporna / Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort Check out of your Semporna hotel and transfer to the private jetty. From the jetty, take a boat ride to Kapalai Island, where you will be spending the next two days.
