At its centre, Rose de Mai and Rosa rugosa create a rich, textured rose accord. This is not a simple, sweet rose. The floral character is layered with blue lotus and orchid, bringing softness and an exotic floral dimension, while Chinese rosewood adds a smooth, understated woody warmth. As the fragrance develops, the rose begins to sit against a darker foundation of Somali frankincense, patchouli and leather. Labdanum and styrax add warmth and resinous depth, while carefully used musk, castoreum and civet bring an unmistakable animalic character to the dry down. The result is a fragrance of contrasts: fresh against dark, floral against resinous, soft against animalic.
