Pug Dog Earrings

A friend of mine has Pug dogs and wished to have me make his wife Pug dog earrings. It was an interesting new venture for me. I found a pug dog stamp online and sent my friend and his wife a photo. Since both of them like Amethyst I decided to place Amethyst stones in the position of the eyes. I loved the way these turned out, they have a lot of definition. As usual after refining the dried clay image I kiln fired them for 2 hours at a 1650 degree F. I used an ancient Korean technique called Keum Boo to burnish the ears and tongue with 24K Gold foil. I set the Amethyst stones in for the eyes last, after polishing the earrings and painting a bit of patina for contrast. Dimensions : 1 inch long 3/4 inch wide. Sterling silver lever backs to suspend the earrings.
