The Beatles' Sun Songs

Four songs about the sun by The Beatles an original watercolour painting size 390 x 400mm The Beatles' Sun Songs encapsulates two things true of my summer 2026. 1. It's been very sunny, and 2. I've listened to and read a lot about The Beatles. The Fab Four's four sun songs are: Sun King - from the 1969 album 'Abbey Road' (Lennon/McCartney) I'll Follow the Sun - from the 1964 album 'Beatles For Sale' (Lennon/McCartney) Here Comes the Sun - from the 1969 album 'Abbey Road' (Harrison) Good Day Sunshine - from the 1966 album 'Revolver' (Lennon/McCartney, but mostly Paul) The bird depicted as the 'Sun King', is a Regal Sunbird (Cinnyris regius). The bird illustrating 'Good Day Sunshine' is an Eurasian Blackbird (Turdus merula). I've used (and mashed!) some groovy 1960 typography. The Beatles impact on culture and society I've been a Beatles fan ever since I can remember. I was born in the early 1960s, and their songs and attitudes seeped into me as I grew up. It's only with the benefit of hindsight that we can truly appreciate the huge cultural shift they spearheaded. They transformed pop music into a serious art form with their incredible sonic innovations (thanks to the genius of the late great George Martin). And they influenced a generation through youth culture rebellion and style. In the process, they threw off post-war drab conservatism and replaced it with vibrancy, hope, creativity and counterculture. I'll take that! Yes, there was something in the ether in the 1960s. But surely The Beatles led the charge. Discuss... It's true to say many of The Beatles songs are now folk songs. This painting comes to you unframed.
