Bauhaus Coffee Table

A low, two-tier coffee table built on Bauhaus logic. Two powder-coated steel panels sit in a gleaming chrome-plated steel frame, joined at every corner by signature ball connectors — the design language of the Swiss USM Haller system, scaled to the space in front of your sofa. It arrives about 80% assembled, so the last steps take around ten minutes with the included tool. About the USM Haller System In 1963, Swiss engineer Paul Schärer and architect Fritz Haller distilled industrial construction into a single idea: chromed steel tubes joined by a small brass-and-chrome ball, each drilled and threaded in six directions. The USM Haller system turned furniture into architecture — endlessly reconfigurable, rigorously geometric, and so quietly beautiful that it entered the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. This coffee table stays true to that modular tradition: the same ball-joint construction and the same honest metal surfaces, stretched into a low two-tier table for the living room. Materials & Craftsmanship Panels: two powder-coated steel panels — a durable baked finish in Golden Yellow (RAL 1004), Graphite Black (RAL 9011) or Pure White (RAL 9010) — forming the tabletop and a full lower shelf Frame: ø0.75" (19 mm) chrome-plated steel tubing for a light, precise silhouette Connectors: ø25 mm chrome-plated brass ball joints threaded M8 on all six faces — the modular signature of the system Two tiers: books, a tray or a vase on top; magazines, baskets or a throw on the shelf below, with 13" (33 cm) of clear height Easy assembly: arrives about 80% assembled; the remaining steps take about ten minutes with the assembly tool in the box Download the materials drawing (PDF, A4). Care Wipe the powder-coated panels with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry them straight away; skip abrasive cleaners and scouring pads, which can dull the baked finish. Bring the chromed tubes and ball joints back to a mirror shine with a dry microfiber cloth. Use coasters under hot or wet cups, and lift the table rather than dragging it when you move it. Frequently Asked Questions What is the ball-joint system? Each corner is a chrome-plated brass ball drilled and threaded (M8) on six faces, so the tubes bolt into it rigidly from any direction — the construction principle that made the Swiss modular system famous. How much assembly does it need? Very little. The table arrives about 80% assembled; joining the remaining parts takes about ten minutes, and the assembly tool is included in the box. Does each table come in one color? Yes — each coffee table comes with both panels in a single finish. Choose Yellow, Black or White from the Color option; the chrome frame matches the rest of our USM Haller style pieces. What size sofa does it suit? At 30.5" (77.5 cm) wide, 20.6" (52.3 cm) deep and 14.7" (37.3 cm) high, it is a compact coffee table for a loveseat or a two-seat sofa — or one of a pair in front of a longer sofa — and leaves room to walk around it in a smaller living room. How do I keep the panels looking new? Dust regularly and wipe spills promptly with a barely damp cloth — see the Care section above for the full routine. Do you ship to France and Germany? Yes.
