x SOLD Antique Australian Ed Rosenstengel Silky Oak Sideboard with Brass Handles. B13168
Description: A substantial antique Australian silky oak sideboard by renowned Brisbane furniture manufacturer Ed. Rosenstengel, displaying the quality timberwork and distinctive design associated with early 20th-century Australian furniture. The sideboard retains its original manufacturer's label, reading "Ed. Rosenstengel, 524 Brunswick Street, Valley, Brisbane", providing an important connection to one of Queensland's recognised furniture makers. Constructed in richly grained silky oak with a deep, dark stained finish, the sideboard features an impressive long rectangular top with decorative rope twist moulding along the front edge. The raised back incorporates a central carved roundel with scrolling embellishments at either end. The front is beautifully detailed with decorative carved panels, barley twist columns and brass drop handles. Turned timber legs and connecting stretchers complete the traditional design. Offering generous and practical storage, the sideboard features two central drawers, a cupboard to the left with internal shelving and a cupboard to the right with an open storage compartment. The left cupboard provides two storage spaces with clearances of 17 cm and 20 cm in height. The right cupboard offers a storage height of 37 cm and a width of 40 cm. A distinctive example of Australian antique furniture, this Rosenstengel sideboard combines decorative cabinetmaking with practical storage. Its generous proportions make it an impressive piece for a dining room, living room or traditional interior. The original manufacturer's label adds historical interest and makes this a particularly appealing piece for those seeking Australian furniture with identifiable provenance.
