The idyllic 2025 harvest conditions, together with an outstanding parcel of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on the Railway Hill Vineyard site, presented the perfect opportunity to push the boundaries of world class still wine production. The Simpsons’ Railway Hill Vineyard is so called because the Canterbury to Folkestone light railway passed through this site in the late 19th and first half of the 20th Century. The Q Class engines, which traversed this line, were powerful yet elegant, qualities that are exemplified in these wines. The palate displays warm, savoury earthiness, with soft tannins and notes of ripe blackcurrant, Darjeeling tea and vanilla, leading to a generous finish. Q Class Chardonnay: This wonderfully opulent Chardonnay displays warming tropical fruit aromas of pineapple & peach, leading to tones of luscious butterscotch and hints of zesty grapefruit. There is a generosity of apricot and creamy patisserie flavours on the palate, which are supple and elegant, with a smooth and sophisticated finish.
